Once you decide on the main print, the other textile choices fall into place to support that main print. Your color and pattern selections are essential to a beautiful interior.

My former experience working at Lee Jofa / Brunschwig & Fils designing the interior of their showrooms was a great experience featuring every kind of textile. I have translated that into my current work so that all my design schemes revolve around textiles. Here are four of our favorites…

Textile #1: Dynamic Velvet for Touchability & Texture

We love incorporating textures to make the design more dynamic. For example, we will mix in velvet for luxury—which helps add a bit of glamour and sheen to create a rich look.

Textile #2: Layered Linen for Elegance & Comfort

We like incorporating linen as well for a casual/ crisp look. We do a linen & poly blend for drapes because the poly helps the linen retain its shape so it won't stretch out. For upholstery, we do performance fabrics with a linen look. Performance fabrics are more practical for holding up to wear, tear, and stains.

Textile #3: Luxurious Leather for Durability & Design

Faux leather is perfect for high-traffic areas, such as mudroom benches or breakfast room banquettes. The faux leather they offer nowadays looks just like the real thing and is ideal for young families.

Textile #4: Warm Wool for Soft Sophistication

Wool fabrics add comfort and softness to a room for a tailored look. In studies, we often use wool for custom ottomans to add to a high-end look.

We source our textiles from trade sources to ensure that they are unique and hard to find, and in our opinion, it’s the most interesting aspect of making a room memorable.
